Major strikers already have more circuits than for the 2014 season
George Springer's two-run homer in the third round of the Houston Astros' 4-2 win over the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday was the 4187th in the campaign, surpassing the 4186 hit just five years ago with another 67 days in the 2019 season.
At this rate, the MLB hitters will lower the 6105 mark, established in 2017, by about 500 long balls.
The 4186 circuits hit in 2014 were the lowest total since the 1995 season.
